ABSTRACT

ABSTRACT: To improve the dynamic responses of motor drive system, developing an inner current loop with fast response is necessary. In this paper, a wide bandwidth current loop system for Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (PMSM) drive using FPGA-based controller is present. Most of the controllers for vector control are realized by Digital Signal Processors (DSPs) due to the complete and compact hardware functions of DSP, such as SVPWM, A/D converter, Quadrature Encoder Counter (QEP), and other functions for motor control. However, the drive systems realized by DSP are limited by the hardware structure, and hardly reach an enough fast response. In this paper, we propose an FPGA realized current loop system which considers the time delay of phase current sensor and the processing time of digital controller. Simulation and practical ex perimental results are used to verify the performance.
