ABSTRACT

In this experiment, 8 beam specimens in total were conducted to research the bond behaviors of reinforced concrete in the case of slight corrosion rate, thickness of concrete cover and position of steel bars. Test results indicated that whether the load-slip relationship or failure modes are dependent on the position of bars and corrosion rate. The bonding capacity of bars located at the corner is weaker than that of middle ones and bonding crack of side direction appear early. Compare to the non-corroded beam, the peak load of slight corrosion beam increase about 5%, the bond stress near the loaded end is about twice as much but about half of it in the far side. In addition, bond stress distributions in the corner bars and the slight corrosion bars are more uneven than the compared ones.
