ABSTRACT

Structural Heath Monitoring SHM of civil engineering structures using nondestructive test data has become an important field of study for model updating, structural evaluation and damage assessment. Using dynamic measurement as input data, the presented continuous-time parameter estimation method, could be used to estimate the stiffness and mass parameters of a given model. The process of estimating the unknown parameters requires the input data to be pre-filtered by applying Linear Dynamical Operations LDO, in order to determine the coefficients of the continuous-time lumped parametric model. The Poisson Moment Functional PMF approach can be used as a LDO to solve the derivative terms from the differential equations. This paper focuses on two case studies for a bridge pile for which the structural parameters are estimated using the PMF approach, followed by the validation of the analytical results and comparing them with the measurement data.
