ABSTRACT

There have been numerous studies conducted focusing on various aspects of adolescence. However, little attention has been given to teenagers who have been raised in a shelter home environment. In Malaysia, there have been no pro-grams formulated to aid in the transition teenagers have to make when they turn 18 and have to be processed out of the government shelter home. When teenagers are raised in a shelter home, whether it is a government or private organization, their basic and educational needs are taken care of. However, when they turn 18, they are often processed out of the system and are expected to fend for themselves. With no or little family, education, or financial support, it becomes a daunting task.
