ABSTRACT

A 68-year-old woman presents with shortness of breath and pleuritic chest pain. She underwent an elective right total hip replacement 10 days previously which was uncomplicated. On examination the oxygen saturation is 88% (breathing room air) and there is a slight swelling of the right leg compared to the left. The D-dimer level is raised. What is the most appropriate first imaging investigation?
