ABSTRACT

Finishing, ending or completing a project brings with it a certain set of feelings. These could be feelings of satisfaction, the kind of repleteness that accompanies a delicious meal and the ambience of pleasant surroundings. So when a healthcare professionals get that feeling of completion, of finishing, of understanding, recognise it for what it really is – simply a breathing space, a resting point, a well-earned break. A signal that internal map has had a reasonable amount of updating and expanding, for the moment. If healthcare professionals cast their mind back over the past 50 years or so of medical developments, the one constant is that change is always taking place. Some of the things the healthcare professionals have learned already will spring to the forefront of his/her mind, while others will be nestling in the background, operating at a much lower level of conscious awareness.
