ABSTRACT

All wisdom and knowledge is contained in Torah, a scholar need only delve deeply into it to find the answers to all problems.

In tro d u ctio n It is a truism that there is no specific concept of ethics as such in Judaism; for all of Jewish teaching and practice is contained in the halachic codes and is enshrined in Jewish law. Thus, Judaism has the concept of Jewish medical law, rather than Jewish medical ethics; the difference between the two con cepts is that the term ‘ethics’ implies a degree of subjectivity and acting according to one’s conscience, whereas Judaism treats medical issues objec tively in accordance with the principles of Jewish law (Halochoh).
