ABSTRACT

‘Out of hours’ is defined as 8.00pm to 8.00am. You get an item of service fee for each visit requested and made to a patient on your list or as a temporary resident between 10.00pm and 8.00am. Generally the visit will be at the patient’s home, but there are exceptions. So if a call comes in at 7.45am but you do not stir yourself until 8.15am, you do not get the fee. Similarly, a call at 9.55pm, does not qualify for the fee. Do not be tempted to claim, as the FHSA has the right to check (with the patient) on your night claims, and will do so at random.
