ABSTRACT
Types of scales 1. Nom inal (categorical) scale. Observations are put into categories but
not graded. Examples include eye colour, nationality, gender and blood group. If there are only 2 categories, they are also known as a binary or dichotomous scale. Examples include gender, answers to a yes/no question and home ownership.
