ABSTRACT

When a doctor is ill Doctors often treat themselves when they are ill. Most doctors don’t like being patients, and try to look after themselves (see Box 8.1). They order their own investigations, use medication that has been discarded by their patients or provided as free samples by pharmaceutical reps, and they refer themselves to consultant specialists.1
