ABSTRACT

Advantages of a logical framework The logical framework has been used for project planning for decades.1 Develop ment agencies have adopted the approach for planning and monitoring overseas programmes, and recently it has been used by the health service for planning and evaluating Health Action Zone projects.2,3

The approach will force you to consider the assumptions that you are making in setting out your action plan. You will be able to monitor your pro gress and pre-empt obstructions to your plans. The log frame is an aid to think ing rather than a series of procedures to which you should slavishly adhere. The framework will help you to concentrate on the operational aspects of your survival ‘project’ and on who is doing what to whom, when, why and how.1
