ABSTRACT

Organisational analysis and development An applied behavioural science approach to planned change and development of an organisation.1 It is concerned with attempts to improve the overall effectiveness and efficiency of the organisation. It looks at how organisational structure and the motivational climate (those within the organisation, their attitudes and their level of morale) can hinder achievement of its goals.2 Organisational analysis examines how the organisation works and how its aims are defined and communicated. It aims to bring the organisation up to a level where it works optimally, thereby benefiting the employers, staff and other stakeholders (the patients, primary care organisations, trusts and allied Government bodies within the NHS).
