ABSTRACT
It might seem like a therapeutically helpful response, but as in this instance it is clear that Michael’s perception does not match Peter’s experience. Maybe he might have just confirmed who he had spoken to, for instance, ‘Your mother?’ What might be clear from Michael’s response is his own sense that for him it would be brave to say this to Peter’s mother if he was Peter. But he isn’t.
