ABSTRACT

Charles's ambition was to become a fireman so that he could rescue people from burning houses and vehicles. He had a number of friends at school and got on well with them and the teachers. He said he avoided the 'rowdies' in class and there were many in his class. He said he was fond of his mother and father and was worried that something might happen to them. A school report obtained later confirmed Charles's description of himself. He was described as a boy of above average ability, who was good at drawing and storytelling. The report commended his behaviour and said that he was a delightful boy. The teachers were aware of the accident but had not observed much difference in Charles's behaviour at school. Charles had been a well behaved and well-functioning boy prior to the accident. There had been a remarkable change in him following the accident.
