ABSTRACT

A problem in a secure hospital setting is that group of patients with multiple sexual deviance, including autogynaephilia. Religiously concerned patients can usefully seek guidance from their faith leaders. They often find their faiths are less condemnatory than the lay religious community think they are, or than the patients imagine they will be. Homosexuals used once to be quite common to see gay and lesbian patients referred to a gender identity clinic. HB was an older male patient who changed gender role with difficulty, but did manage to sustain a female role as a middle-aged woman. S. B. Levine reported that although female patients were significantly healthier than the males, 92% of the males and 58% of the females had psychiatric diagnoses, apart from gender dysphoria. Personality disorders may also cause patients to present either with claims of having a gender identity disorder or seeming as if they have a gender identity disorder.
