ABSTRACT

The day dawned when I was to be moved to the main ward. In the event though, the day was nearly over by the time the transfer was finally made. Iain offered to stay overnight by my side. That was such a relief. I was so frightened – more so than I had been during the previous weeks. I always felt reassured, though, whenever Iain or the girls were with me. So I was settled into my new surroundings and Iain settled down in a comfortable chair by my side. Thus began the next phase of my so-called recovery; the acute, crisis time was over and the hard slog was about to begin.
