ABSTRACT

This chapter describes the work taking place at one of the housing projects, namely City Centre Project, Vicar Lane and Bradford Foyer, with which the Health of Men (HoM) team have been involved. The project helps residents to develop life skills and social skills, to access training and education and also to have the assistance of a resettlement worker. Residents must attend a health session as a condition of their contract to stay in the house. A strategy was developed to involve young people and workers at the housing project, and asking them to suggest health related topics or issues they wanted to address. Relationships built with residents and staff over the years have made it easy for HoM to signpost the residents to other services. A good working partnership with multidisciplinary team members and agencies is also vital as their input may be required for particular sessions, or someone may need to refer the young people to other agencies.
