In 1981 the then Journal of the Royal College of General Practitioners published, as an ‘individual study’, a paper of mine entitled ‘Antenatal memories and psychopathology’1. This was its summary:
There is abundant evidence in the psychological literature of the personalityshaping and vulnerability-determining effects of intrauterine life. Over the course of my professional career I’ve done birth regression work, or made productive pregnancy-related interpretations, with perhaps a dozen individuals, usually at times of life crisis.
