ABSTRACT
In an emergency a doctor may need to give staff verbal instructions to provide or change medication. However, there are some complicated legal reasons why a care home may not be able to carry out these instructions. Written confirmation will be needed and a fax might just do the trick, or (perhaps) even an e-mail that has been printed out.
