ABSTRACT

Initially, after Jasmine had been discharged from the neonatal intensive-care unit, the family was visited by the neonatal outreach nurse, but as Jasmine came off the oxygen treatment quickly and the family was coping exceptionally well, the ‘extra’ community input was quickly reduced and the parents now only receive standard health visitor input. Jasmine’s progress is monitored 6-monthly at the local child development centre. Her parents have been reassured that Jasmine has been assessed as not having any palliative care needs, but in the light of the amount of care and supervision she needs she is on the waiting list for respite care.
