ABSTRACT

Rosie could see discomfort on Keith’s face. He seemed tight-lipped and with drawn. His facial expression seemed very present for her and she felt a strong urge to respond to it, to convey her empathic understanding of what she felt it was conveying to her. Yet she also wasn’t sure about the therapeutic value of disturbing Keith’s silence. She decided to make a minimal response, conveying her sense of what was present for Keith, but without any great detail.
