ABSTRACT
Introduction Uncommon gynaecological cancers present particular challenges for affected women and the health professionals who care for them. For the woman and her family, it can be difficult to come to terms with a disease of which they have no prior knowledge. They can be frustrated by their inability to obtain accurate information about the condition. For health professionals, who might have little or no experience of the condition, caring for such patients can cause feelings of professional inadequacy.
