ABSTRACT
It is often said that the most important part of the consultation in the diagnostic process is the history and a small percentage is attributed to the physical examination and an even smaller proportion to investigations . Nevertheless, the aim of this chapter it to emphasise the importance of physical examination within the consultation and the need to develop competence in the many skills involved, both in their application and interpretation.
