ABSTRACT

Psychiatric illness Indications for drugs for the treatment of psychiatric disorders such as psychoses (e.g. schizophrenia, schizo-affective disorder, delusional disorders), affective disorders (e.g. depressive episodes, bipolar disorders) and anxiety-related disorders (e.g. generalised anxiety disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder, panic disorder, phobia) should be the same among people with learning disabilities as they are for the general population. Therefore in this chapter we shall discuss primarily the indications for psychotropic drugs for the treatment of behaviour disorders per se.
