Case study 9.1 Miss Quaver, a 16 year old, attends your minor injuries/minor illness clinic with her mother. That morning her mother had found her in a confused state with blood coming out of her mouth. Her mother had initially thought her daughter’s state was a result of recreational drug usage and therefore delayed obtaining medical advice. Miss Quaver denies illicit drug usage. She recalls getting up early and noticed that her hands jerked and then she lost con sciousness. She remembers noticing her hands jerking on several occasions in the last few months, especially if she got up early. On one occasion, she found herself on the bathroom floor having wet herself, but she was so embarrassed that she did not confide in her parents.
