ABSTRACT

Describe the important steps in image intensification to produce an image.

The x-rays strike an input phosphor screen. This screen converts energy into light. The light interacts with the photocathode producing electrons that are accelerated across the potential difference between the input screen (negative) and output screen (positive). The electrons are focused onto the output screen by a number of electrodes of varying potentials that make up an ‘electron lens’. The

accelerated electrons strike the small output screen pro ducing light.
