ABSTRACT

In October 2005 Rosetta Life released three songs on a CD. The author was invited to take part in the project by Rosetta Life, a charity dedicated to helping those facing terminal illness to share their experiences through the medium of art, poetry, film or song. Maxine wrote reams of words, pouring her feelings out onto the page. Author’s job was to take the words that best expressed the sentiments in the photographs and shape them into a song. She provided the melody, but the words were Maxine's. She called the song 'We Laughed'. She had cancer in August 2000. She had both breasts removed. This second breast cancer was not from the original cancer. This cancer was actually a different type of breast cancer. The cancer had initially grown in the chest wall, but had already spread as secondary carcinomas into the lung in six places and into the lymph system. She offered palliative care.
