ABSTRACT
The Y is another letter that the Romans developed, think of it as a late addition to their alphabet. It was based on the Greek vowel Upsilon. In English, Y has double duty as a consonant and a casual vowel. As with the last few letters in our alphabet, this letter doesn’t have any reference to an animal or inanimate object.
