ABSTRACT
Our modern Hindu-Arabic numerals evolved out of self-awareness, the notion that you are numero uno, and everyone else is secondary. We have two hands and feet, each with five digits. so it is natural that special attention was paid to the first set of 10 digits. Our ancestors found themselves needing a method of accounting for both ownership, dating and mercantile purposes.
