ABSTRACT

Cancer affects one in three people in the United Kingdom and United States at some time in their life, and is responsible for approximately one-quarter of all deaths. Worldwide, lung cancer is the most common cancer contributing 13% of the total number of new UK cases diagnosed in 2012. In men the top three cancers; lung, prostate and colorectal, contributed nearly 42% of all cancers. In women breast cancer was the second most common cancer and colorectal the third with nearly 1.7 and 1.4 million new UK cases, respectively, in 2012.
