ABSTRACT

Pre-school Child Health Care in particular can play a large part in the early identification of and counselling on psychosocial and educational problems. This chapter explores the references in scientific literature to the nature and prevalence of psychosocial and educational problems. Subsequently, existing and experimental working methods relating to these problems are highlighted; then it is considered what possibilities and problems present themselves in examining the effectiveness of psychosocial and teaching prevention activities. Attention is also paid to a prevention model. Parents appeared to appreciate the support and supply of information, as is evident from the many questions asked about psychosocial and educational problems in pre-school Child Health Care. There is also a great demand for this aspect from society as a whole, as is evident from the important part ascribed to Child Health Care in the context of educational support and prevention of psychosocial problems.
