ABSTRACT

Nick’s morning consisted of one meeting after another. At ten o’clock, he had a half-hour break before his next meeting and decided to go down to one of the nursing units and do some observing. He got off the elevator and stood against the wall across from the nurse’s station. Again, he felt invisible. Everyone was too busy to even notice him. A nurse walked up to the nursing station and asked the unit clerk where transport was. “I don’t know,” responded the clerk. “I called them three times, and each time, they said they were on the way. I’ll call again.”
