ABSTRACT
The first aim is to discuss the general importance of nomenclature in surgery. The second aim is to summarize the anatomic nomenclature that stems from recent advancements in our understanding of mesenteric and peritoneal anatomy. The third aim is to demonstrate how this is applicable to colorectal surgical procedures and operations.
