ABSTRACT

A psychological approach to the management of cognitive impairment in dementia aims to promote the best possible quality of life for both people with dementia and their carers, by oering positive, individualized and eective management. With the growing emphasis on early diagnosis of dementia, there are increasing opportunities to provide psychological interventions from the earliest stages of dementia. is chapter focuses on practical and personalized strategies. Assessment and feedback processes are outlined and specic techniques for managing cognitive impairment in early, moderate and later stage dementia are described.
