ABSTRACT
Living beings interact with each other through various ecological relationships. Chemical compounds, which have a large chemical diversity, mediate the communication established between the organisms. Each particular biosynthetic machinery is often restricted to different taxonomic levels, from phyla to genera and even species. These chemicals are denominated secondary metabolites or special metabolites, commonly known as natural products.
