ABSTRACT

This chapter presents activities that help to design a great narrative content for interactive games and media. Like an executive summary of a business plan, the synopsis of storyteller's story will tell the entire thing in a few pages, as if it were a linear short story. In this way, they create a basic narrative map that can be reviewed at any time and elements pulled off of it that need to go into the final game design. The chapter provides a sample synopsis of Tomar's Quest. Storyteller can create a visual design flowchart, using a graphic program such as Adobe Illustrator or a nonlinear presentation application such as Prezi, and make a comprehensive flowchart that shows the progression of the player experience as they move through the entire game, segment by segment. They can create the connections between these elements as arrows with descriptors in as much detail as possible.
