ABSTRACT

The main focus of business continuity planning is for the corporation or entity to be able to continue conducting business in the face of a temporary or even permanent loss of facilities. All business, corporation, and government entities should have a business continuity plan that can quickly get the corporate machinery back into operation, even at a reduced rate, when unexpected situations compromise the facilities within which it is housed. Part of business continuity planning involves the initial response to a catastrophic event and being ready for it. Considerations in the selection of a business continuity site can be easy if the corporate entity is large enough and has off-campus buildings already. Business continuity planning for corporate office buildings, apartment complexes, and retail centers has different considerations than for individual residences. Business continuity planning is one of the most important aspects of security and facilities planning with which managers will be faced.
