ABSTRACT

This chapter review the most commonly used outcome measures available for the treatment of venous reflux and obstruction. For venous disease, the tools are needed in order to assess clinical outcomes and quality of life issues. The number of available outcomes assessment tools has increased markedly in recent years. In addition, there are demands from an increasingly restrictive payer network. The result is an array of similar but different assessment tools that reflect the measured outcomes. The chapter describes the currently available validated tools for the assessment of the symptoms and manifestations of Chronic venous disease (CVD), focusing on instruments that evaluate the results of therapy. Clinical Etiology Anatomy Pathophysiology is a classification tool and is not adequate for the periprocedural representation of CVD. The Revised Venous Clinical Severity Score was intended to assess patients at all stages of CVD, including patients with post-thrombotic syndrome, saphenous vein ablation, stenting for venous obstruction, and pharmacomechanical thrombolysis.
