ABSTRACT

This chapter presents common steps to both Automatic and Interactive Feature Recognition methods: FeatureWorks Add-In, Options, Import non-SolidWorks Geometry, and Import Diagnostics, as well as both Automatic and Interactive Feature Recognition methods. These tools are useful for importing the features from other computer-aided design (CAD) environments to SolidWorks. The SolidWorks Auto Trace tool helps to convert raster data into vector data. Company logos and scanned geometric designs can be converted into SolidWorks digital data using the Auto Trace Add-In tool, which allows users to insert a picture into the SolidWorks Sketch Picture and trace it for reverse engineering. FeatureWorks software is the first parametric feature recognition solution for CAD users. By applying intelligence to translated 3D CAD files, FeatureWorks brings static 3D data to life, making them ready for use with SolidWorks 3D CAD software. FeatureWorks software reduces the time that is spent rebuilding models, resulting in better product designs, faster development cycles, and lower costs.
