ABSTRACT

Vascular anomalies (VAs) can localize on extremities, thus possibly inducing subsequent nail involvement. Despite a somewhat frequent occurrence of VAs in childhood, specic nail alterations are rarely described in the literature, probably because they have few consequences for benign vascular lesions and because the prognosis is not conditioned by ungual involvement in severe VAs. Furthermore, VAs are not always symptomatic in childhood and may progress later on, at puberty or during pregnancy. In addition, genetic syndromes can have incomplete penetrance in childhood. However, the discovery of nail involvement in the context of VA may have functional or therapeutic consequences. On the other hand, some VAs have a specic location on digital extremities.
