ABSTRACT

The blood disorders include a number of different types of disorder. The majority of the disorders in the group are bleeding disorders, such as the factor deficiencies. Blood coagulation factors enable the blood to clot by producing ibrin, a protein that is produced in order to stop bleeding. The immune system defends the body against harmful substances such as bacteria, viruses and foreign bodies by producing antibodies in response to these antigens. Immune system disorders occur when the immune response is impaired and the body is left vulnerable to infections. Ataxia telangiectasia is a slow progressive disorder that afects the brain, causing an inability to coordinate muscle movements. Afected individuals have an impaired immune system, which makes them more susceptible to infections. Wiskott-Aldrich syndrome is a disorder that affects the immune system and causes individuals to become susceptible to infections. Autoimmune symptoms occur when the immune system reacts against part of an individual's own body.
