ABSTRACT

More than 60 specialties exist in medicine and surgery, each with its own sub-specialties. It is impossible for medical school curricula to incorporate all specialties. Therefore, self-selected components of the course and self-directed extra-curricular activity facilitate further (or new) experience of the specialties that interest you or are an area of personal weakness. So how you do you make your medical training as useful, broad and full of variety as possible?
