ABSTRACT

A health system is the totality of formal efforts, commitments, personnel, institutions, economic resources and research efforts that a nation, state or society devotes to illness, premature mortality, incapacitation, prevention, rehabilitation and other health-related problems. Pre- National Health Service (NHS) health care was fragmented, with little coordination and limited access. Patients' dental health has improved with the greater availability of services. Primary Care Trusts are NHS organisations whose main responsibilities are to improve the health of the community, develop primary and community health services and commission hospital care for their local population. The way health care is organised in a particular society or country affects the health and quality of life of that society and has an impact on the professional life of health care workers. The cyclic process can begin again with ever improving health care quality. The common problems with health care delivery are numerous.
