ABSTRACT
The above is the mission statement of the Academy for the Study of the Psychoanalytic Arts which, when I read it some years ago, resonated with what I felt was the central ethos of Artists in Mind (AIM), an arts and mental health charity that I had started some fi ve years previously. Another quote which in many ways exemplifi ed the ethos of AIM was taken with permission from a book by Sean McNiff (Sean McNiff PhD, ATR, is the Provost and Dean of Endicott College in Beverly, Massachusetts). His quotation heads our stationery and declares our intentions within the fi eld of mental well-being.
