ABSTRACT

Identification of the staffing requirements of an organisation is the stage in the human resources planning process. Strategic human resource management (SHRM) encompasses numerous activities related to the management of these employees, which include the following: Requirements – Workforce planning, Recruitment, Rewards, Retention, Relationships – Leadership and teamwork, Training and development and Appraisal – Performance management. Desirable requirements include a higher degree and management experience. SHRM may be considered as managing our human resources so that they are aligned with the attainment of the long-term organisational goal. Job design may be considered as the organising of tasks, duties, and responsibilities into a productive unit of work. There are two main types of reward: Fixed levels of pay and Reward linked to performance. An understanding of job satisfaction is very important when considering staff retention. E. A. Locke identified four factors conducive to high levels of employee satisfaction: mentally challenging work, equitable rewards, supportive working conditions and supportive colleagues.
