ABSTRACT

The proper focus of caring Th e Tidal Model assumes that all health and social problems are best viewed as ‘problems in living’.5 Practitioners should seek to provide the person with ‘the necessary conditions for the promotion of growth and development’.6 To begin this process, practitioners help people to describe and name their experience of such problems in their own language, rather than in the language of medicine or psychology. Th is leads to exploring how people might begin to deal better with, if not completely resolve, such problems in living.
