ABSTRACT
Children were more likely to be subject to a child protection conference if the sexual abuse was considered to have been within the family, the case was already an open case prior to referral, and where parents were adjudged unsupportive to their children. The decision to hold a conference was not linked to the professionals’ views as to the certainty about whether the abuse had occurred, nor linked to severity of abuse.14
