The case study and its context

Fylde covers the coastal and inland area between Blackpool and Preston in NW Lancashire. In between relatively affluent communities lie pockets of relative deprivation and as a whole the area is the 199^th most deprived out of 354 English local authorities. Over a third of the population are over 55; 26% of adult men and 20% of women smoke.
