ABSTRACT
Introduction to health libraries Health is important to everyone and provides employment for a huge number of healthcare professionals. In the United Kingdom, the NHS is the country’s largest employer. At some point during their training and work, all healthcare professionals need to access information which is to be found in a library, often with the help of a librarian. With the increased emphasis on ‘evidence-based health care’, a library has become an important source of evidence for treatment and increasingly librarians are learning how to critically appraise the literature that they retrieve.
