ABSTRACT
It should be apparent from what has already been written that managed care is an information-dependent process. An HMO that is not investing adequately in its MIS infrastructure is like a battleship which has substandard electronic weapons and control systems. It may look impressive on the outside, but when it comes to the test of battle it will perform inadequately compared with its more modern counterparts.
